Our USA-focused team members are on a mission to cultivate peace, justice, and flourishing for everyone across the country. We believe that God’s mission is to bring wholeness and healing to the world. And we believe following Jesus means being part of that mission.

We're working toward the day when churches across the U.S. are known as communities of peace and when their Christian witness is recognized through their reconciliation with enemies, pursuit of justice, solidarity with the marginalized, and commitment to truth.

We know we can't get there through good intentions alone. Christians, and all who wish to be peacemakers, need practical skills and supportive communities to turn these peaceful intentions into real-world shalom. From our own self-awareness, to interpersonal communication, to community development, to nonviolent social change, opportunities to learn and grow are essential.

That’s why U.S.-focused Peace Catalyst team members are crossing divides and working for peace in our communities, as well as inviting local Christians to build shalom alongside us.

We

Equip Christians

for peace

…by sharing the skills and stories that help us live out God’s peace.

A group of people attending a presentation in a church hall, with a speaker at the front and a large screen displaying a slide titled "Who Are the Witnesses". The hall has wooden flooring, chairs arranged in rows, stained glass windows, and religious artwork.

This looks like:

  • Leading small groups to help people explore the theology and practice of peace,

  • Running workshops on dialogue skills, interpersonal conflict skills, how to catalyze community transformation, and more,

  • Speaking at churches and coaching local leaders to integrate peacebuilding into their communities and work.

We

Mobilize Christians

for peace

…by creating opportunities and networks where they can put their skills to use.

People sitting at a reserved outdoor table during a community gathering, with some sharing a handshake. There is a fruit platter, water bottles, and a reserved sign on the table, and others are socializing in the background under a covered area.

This looks like:

  • Working with others to meet the immediate and long-term needs of our neighbors and local neighborhoods. For example, a weekly food pantry, distributing food and supplies to the unhoused, running workshops on trauma awareness, and supporting refugees as they integrate into their new homes.

  • Advocating for change, collaborating with neighbors to urge those in power to be just and merciful, and protecting the rights and needs of those in our communities. For example, organizing for racial justice, advocating for Uyghurs alongside Uyghurs, and advocating for Ceasefire alongside Palestinians.

  • Building community and cultivating relationships of unity and understanding across differences. For example, Peace Feasts between Christians and Muslims, interfaith home groups, and community song circles.

We welcome people to join our team, either as volunteer, bivocational, or crowdfunded team members. If you’re looking for a spiritual and professional home to pursue your peacebuilding calling, we’d love to chat.

Why your church should start training for peacebuilding

Peacebuilding is desperately needed in a holistic way. Not just as an additional church activity or program, but as a driving paradigm for how Christians understand God’s mission and the Church’s vocation. The need for each of us - and for our whole churches - to embrace peacebuilding is urgent, and we’ve got to start now.
