WHAT?
This interactive, experiential 8-session learning cohort will give you an introduction to the core concepts and practices of Peace Catalyst International’s Community Peacebuilding framework.
Community Peacebuilding empowers changemakers to better understand their context, connect across differences, and collaborate with neighbors for the common good of the community. We do this using:
- Conflict transformation skills
- Community organizing
- Asset-based community development
- Network weaving
- and more!
WHY?
Deep community is born out of care for and trust between neighbors. When we begin to connect to those around us and work with them for good, a flourishing community of hope and possibility emerges.
But how do we do this? How do we build authentic relationships with our neighbors? How do we understand what’s happening under the surface in our communities? With so many important needs, how do we know where to get involved?
Peace Catalyst’s Community Peacebuilding process takes community-minded people deep into this journey of exploration and integration. Based on our core Understand-Connect-Collaborate approach to peacebuilding, we guide caring neighbors, community connectors, and changemakers along the path of transforming our relationships and neighborhoods. As a cohort, we will be intentional about supporting and learning from each other as we journey together.

WHO?
This practice-based cohort is designed to benefit people with a range of levels of experience.
If you are:
Excited to work for the good of your community, but don’t know where to start;
Well-connected with neighbors, but want to impact the wider community;
Already involved in community transformation, but want to deepen your relationships and understanding;
Highly experienced in working for change, but wanting to zoom out and look for new possibilities;
… then this is for you!
Whether you’re just trying to be a good neighbor, volunteering in your spare time, working in the community professionally, or part of a congregation or community group seeking greater clarity and impact, we invite you to be a Community Peacebuilder with us.
This cohort is even more powerful with others from your community. If there are friends, neighbors, or colleagues from your community, organization, or congregation you can bring along, the potential for learning and future collaboration only gets bigger!
+ Course Structure
This 8-session course is designed as a learning cohort to facilitate collective learning, experimentation, and reflection.
This course is designed for learning through interactive participation. Participants are expected to be present for as many live classes as possible so that they and their fellow cohort members can benefit fully from the courses.
Every two weeks, we will meet for two-hour-long sessions. These sessions will be split between reflecting on the previous week’s exercises and experiments, group coaching around challenges experienced, and new learning in preparation for the upcoming week’s exercises.
Between each session, participants will have two weeks to practice a particular step, skill, or exercise that will help them better understand themselves and their communities, connect with neighbors, and move toward possibilities for collaborative change.
Participants who attend at least six sessions and complete all experiential practices and reflection activities will receive a Certificate of Completion after the course.

$295: Supporter Level: This level ensures the instructor and Peace Catalyst are fairly supported for their work.
$195: Solidarity Level: This level is for those with little access to expendable income and financial sustainability. We want everyone to be equipped as community peacebuilders regardless of financial situation.
