Meet the 2023 Rick Love Award winners

LISA SHARON HARPER | Rick Love Peace Award

To honor the work and passion of our late founder, Rick Love, we've presented the 2023 Rick Love Peace Award to Lisa Sharon Harper for her outstanding peacebuilding work. Ms. Harper is a speaker, writer, and activist who needs no introduction. You've probably read one of her several books, heard her teach or give an interview (she's been on our podcast too), or heard people talk about her, and we're so pleased to honor her with this year's Rick Love Peace Award.

KASHA SEQUOIA SLAVNER | Young Innovators Award

Rick also cared deeply about young people and wanted a new generation of peacebuilders to be raised up after him. That's why we also presented two awards to young innovative peacebuilders to either jumpstart or help them continue their work.

Kasha is founder of The Global Sunrise Project and Director/Screenwriter/Cinematographer of the feature documentary The Sunrise Storyteller. She's done so many things and won so many awards we can't even list them, and she is one of two recipients of this year's Young Innovators in Peacebuilding Awards.

EMMA VAN DRIE-HEITRITTER | Young Innovators Award

Emma is an MDiv student at the University of Chicago, and her academic interests include comparative religious texts, public theology, and feminist articulations of peace and security. She volunteers with Shoulder to Shoulder and Al Amana Centre. She's also a member of the Hyde Park & Kenwood Interfaith Council and serves on their Anti-Violence Task Force. Emma is our second Young Innovators in Peacebuilding Award winner.
